: Department of Urdu :

   Udgir was a part of the old Nizam state of Hyderabad. It is a border area of Maharashtra, Karnataka and Andhra Paradesh states. Forty percent population of this city, speaks Urdu as their mother tongue, therefore M.E. Society, Udgir has started the department of Urdu in July 1966.

Prof. M. A. Khan (Aurangabad) was a first Head of the department. He, with Prof. Dr. Y. Z. Khan served the department, thirty years. After the retirement of above said teachers Dr. Hamid Ashraf, M.A.(Gold Medalist) M.Phil., Ph.D.,has been appointed as Head, department of Urdu in the year 1996.Dr.Maqbool Ahmed, M.A. M.Phil. , Ph.D., (NET. SLET) has been appointed as a lecturer in the year 2000.

  • Organised UGC sponsored Two day National seminar on “Moulana Abul Kalam Azad: Life & contribution”and All India Mushaira on 4th &5th February, 2010.
